TN MAN KILLS TEEN GIRLFRIEND OVER ‘OTHER MALES’ MESSAGING HER ON FACEBOOK

The Hamblen County Sheriff’s Office confirmed a shooting Saturday morning. In a Facebook post, Hamblen County Sheriff Esco Jarnagin said that the murder victim is a 16-year-old female. Morristown East High School identified the teen as Tamia Clark.

At around 11:58 p.m. on May 12, Hamblen County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a shooting inside Cherokee Park at 3045 Floyd Hall Drive. Dispatchers said that Dalton Mitchell Hodges, age 19, was the shooter. Officers found Hodges in the park and he was taken into custody without incident. Authorities told Local 8 News that Hodges was charged with second degree murder.

The lead investigator on the case from the Hamblen County Sheriff’s Office said Hodges called 911 on himself after allegedly shooting his girlfriend in the head. The investigator said they think it was a crime of passion and a cold killing.

Detectives said they don’t have a clear motive for the case, but said initial interviews indicated Hodges was upset because other males were messaging Clark on Facebook.
