For the third time in less than a month, a tractor trailer rig has wrecked at mile marker 314 East bound of I-40 in Roane County.  June 3rd, June 9th and this morning a big rig turned over around 2am.  TDOT is saying the wreckage should be cleared by 2pm Eastern Time.   TDOT officials have been asked  if anything was being done to investigate whether this was just a strange coincidence or if something else may be causing these wrecks.  TDOT says they initiated a safety review of this location in recent weeks. The review included performing a crash analysis. They are now pursuing federal safety funds for the project.

In the meantime, the Regional Traffic Office is currently reviewing all signs and markings in preparation for improvements.
A date has not been set for the project, however, TDOT says it is being expedited.
