A Greeneville couple is behind bars, accused of trying to sell a 5-month-old baby on Craigslist.

On Friday, the Elizabethton Police Department received a tip about the ad. The couple planned to sell the child for $3,000.

Officers set up an undercover investigation.

On Friday evening, John David Cain, Jr and Deanna Greer arrived at the location with the 5-month-old child and met with an undercover agent. During the transaction, they were arrested. The Department of Children’s Services arrived on scene to take custody of the baby.

The Greene County Sheriff’s Office charged John Cain and Deana Greer with Aggravated Child Abuse and Aggravated Child Neglect or Endangerment. Both are being held in the Greene County Jail on $150,000 bond.  The report did not say if the baby was in fact the couple’s own baby.
