TANSI: BARRICADED WOMAN THREATENS TO SHOOT OFFICERS SATURDAY

BARRICADED SUSPECT ARRESTED
Crossville, Tennessee – On Saturday, October 16, 2021, officers with the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office and Tansi Security attempted to serve a warrant on a residence at Apache Trail. The suspect made threats to shoot the officers and barricaded herself in the building. The scene was secured and the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office / Crossville Police Department combined SWAT Team was alerted to respond to the scene. Negotiators spoke with the suspect by phone for approximately an hour without any success. The decision was then made by the SWAT Commander to deploy gas to attempt to make the suspect exit the structure. SWAT Operators deployed the gas, made entry into the building and the suspect was apprehended. Evidence was collected at the scene and the suspect was transported to the Cumberland County Jail and charged. The suspect, Susan Stokes, age 56, was charged with Violation of Probation, Aggravated Assault, and Resisting Arrest. Ms. Stokes remains in custody awaiting a November 22, 2021 court date.
