The Knox County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team is working a standoff in West Knoxville this afternoon.

Officials on scene say a man is firing shots from windows at the Days Inn on Park West Boulevard in Knoxville.

The suspect, David Eugene Smith, is wanted for killing three people in Lakeland, Florida.

Park West Boulevard is closed at Cedar Bluff Road.

Deputies said a 14-year-old girl found her mother and two other people dead when she returned home from a trip Monday at 9 p.m. Detectives in Florida said they believe the victims were killed sometime after 7 a.m. Saturday, May 24.

Smith had been living at the home where the bodies were found for the past two months. He reportedly related to one of the three victims, accoriding the Polk County Sheriff’s Office. Detectives haven’t confirmed the identities of the two women and one man found shot in the residence. Officials were told Smith is delusional.
