The largest drug bust in U.S. history took place yesterday and many medical professionals in Tennessee were involved in the case.

Some of the more provocative stories came from Memphis, where Dr. Richard Farmer of East Memphis is accused of writing nine prescriptions, some of them being opioids, to five different patients. The indictment claims the prescriptions were written in “exchange for sexual favors or companionship.”

Another West Tennessee doctor is accused of writing himself prescriptions for testosterone. Dr. Thomas Hughes is accused of writing himself those prescriptions from 2007 to 2010. When he was caught, prosecutors say he moved to other Memphis doctors’ offices and wrote testosterone prescriptions using their credentials from 2015 to 2017.

West Tennessee medical professionals were not the only ones to get caught in the raid. In East Tennessee, 8 different medical professionals were also charged.
