SOME AREA SCHOOLS OPEN, MOST CLOSED DUE TO ICE AND SICKNESS

MANY SCHOOLS ARE CLOSED AGAIN TODAY DUE TO LEFTOVER ICY ROAD CONDITIONS ON SECONDARY ROADS MAKING FOR HAZARDOUS DRIVING CONDITIONS.
BUT SOME SCHOOLS ARE CLOSED BECAUSE THERE ARE ALMOST NO TEACHERS TO TEACH. KNOX COUNTY SCHOOLS ARE CLOSED DUE TO A HUGE NUMBER OF STAFF MEMBERS BEING OUT SICK WITH COVID, FLU, AND OTHER NORMAL SEASONAL SICKNESS. THE SAME IS TRUE FOR ANDERSON COUNTY SCHOOLS – THEY’VE GOT 50 CLASSROOMS WITH NO TEACHERS – OUT DUE TO SICKNESS.  MCMINN COUNTY SCHOOLS ARE CLOSED TODAY FOR THE SAME REASON.
Putnam Co. Schools will be open Wed, Jan. 19. Bus Drivers have discretion in isolated areas that remain snow or ice-covered. White Co Schools will be open, but buses 5, 16, 20 and 35 will have adjusted routes.
