SHOTS FIRED, CHASE THEN WRECK: SUSPECT CHARGED BY POLICE, SHERIFF, THP

In a report by Crossville Chronicle, it was a pretty wild afternoon for officers in Crossville today when neighbors reported shots fired at a Park Street residence.  Police showed up but the suspect, 58 year-old David Micah Neely. was already gone.  A deputy spotted the suspect’s van soon afterwards.  The van was headed out Lantana Road. According to reports, Neely wouldn’t stop for the deputy and sped away toward Taylor’s Chapel.  It was apparent Neely wasn’t stopping for anybody.  After leading officers on a chase for some time, reaching speeds of almost 70 miles per hour on a secondary road, a tire blew out on the van and the suspect eventually ran off the road and crashed into a tree on POW Camp road.  Neely, who refused medical treatment,  was charged by Crossville Police with being in possession of a handgun while under the influence, reckless endangerment and possession of a prohibited weapon along with charges from the Sheriff’s Department with felony evading arrest and charged by the Tennessee Highway Patrol with driving under the influence.  Neely was put in jail on a $20,000 bond.
