Cumberland County sheriff’s investigators have just cleared the scene of a shooting that left one man in critical condition, one in custody and one being questioned.

The incident occurred around 11:30 a.m. Tuesday in the 4600 block of Lantana Rd. 

Deputies went to a residence to serve a warrant on a man whom they believed was at the house.

Sheriff Casey Cox said deputies announced their presence and ordered the man outside. Deputies heard a verbal response, followed by a single gunshot.

The victim suffered a serious head wound and was airlifted from the area of the scene. He was taken to The University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville.

Cox said the investigation is continuing, and release of the victims name is pending notification of all family members.
