ROANE COUNTY VOTES TO DELAY SCHOOL OPENING, MANY FEEL CUMBERLAND SHOULD TOO

Roane County Schools Board of Education has voted to delay the start of school for students until August 19, 2020.

Students are still required to attend 180 days of school. Many Cumberland County parents feel school opening should be delayed as well with the daily rise in COVID-19 cases.  Students have the choice of attending in person or taking online classes.  Most parents are apprehensive about sending their child to school fearing they may contract the virus even with the safety standards in place including wearing masks when distancing isn’t feasible and separating students in classrooms.
