KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – Members of the University of Tennessee Police Department received a report of a rape early Friday morning.

According to an alert sent to students on Friday, a third party reported what happened to police.

UTPD said the alleged rape happened in a residence hall on the east side of campus. Police officers said the female is working with UT regarding what happened and has declined filing a police report at this time.

The department said the University will support and respect the decision of the student involved on how they wish to proceed.
