RAIN DATE FOR SOLAR ECLIPSE ANNOUNCED

The biggest outdoor spectator event of the century is scheduled for next Monday.  Millions are preparing to witness the historic solar eclipse.  According to many news outlets, all passenger trains, flights and hotels have been booked up for weeks by eclipse watchers. Trouble is, as with all outdoor events, the weather is a very important factor.  At this time, it’s looking pretty good for being able to see the eclipse unobstructed by clouds. Currently, there is only a 20 percent chance of rain in the seven-day outlook for next Monday, at least for the Crossville region.   Of course we all know how weather predicting goes…it might and might not rain.   Seven days is a bit too early to accurately predict exactly how the weather will cooperate for the eclipse.   Oh, about the headline.  Well the rain date for the solar eclipse is still August 21st.  Seems NASA, which is accustomed to rescheduling rockets, space shuttles and the like due to inclement weather,  can’t postpone the eclipse.  However, we haven’t heard back from President Trump yet.

One thing is for sure, there is a 100 percent chance of total darkness in Crossville for about two and a half minutes around 1:30(Central) in the afternoon as the Moon passes between Earth and Sun.  Hopefully, the small chance of rain in the forecast will vanish as the week progresses and we can all watch the total eclipse of the sun – with approved glasses of course.
