The new Cookeville Publix has officially announced their opening date, Wednesday, Aug. 29.

The new store is one of the cornerstones of the Shoppes at Eagle Point development on Interstate Drive. The store recently held a job fair to fill the positions needed at the location.

The location had initially set a tentative opening date for September 2018, but will be opening a bit early. The store is expected to open at 6:45 a.m., Aug. 29.

The Shoppes at Eagle Point development has announced a few new stores in recent weeks, including the clothing store Torrid and children’s clothing store Carter’s.

The development has been estimated to contribute $2.4 million in sales tax revenue annually, and provide 600 jobs.
