NATION: THEFT OF 2000 BOXES OF DIAPERS PINNED ON TRUCK DRIVER

A truck driver allegedly stole $90,000 worth of diapers that he was supposed to deliver to an Amazon distribution center in Massachusetts.

Rhode Island detectives said in a press release that 59-year-old Aubrey Bettis sold the stash of diapers and abandoned his semi-truck in the parking lot of a Super Eight Motel.

On Thursday, Feb. 16, police tracked down more of the missing merchandise to an empty Providence storefront, where they found 800 additional boxes of diapers. Meanwhile, 1,200 boxes are still missing.

Police arrested Bettis and another man, Damon Martin, 41, for larceny over $1,500 and conspiracy.

Investigators are searching for another suspect, as well as the rest of the diapers.
