3772309_GA man was charged with assaulting a police officer after he got upset over his wife burning a piece of toast.

Officers with the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department were called to a home for a domestic incident after a wife called to report her husband threatened to hit her with her own walking crutch. She also said he was intoxicated and had gotten upset because she burnt some toast.

Officers arrived to find 49-year-old Andy Edwards very angry, and it took several officers to place him under arrest. An affidavit said he pushed a police officer and threatened to destroy the patrol car he was put in.

Once he was inside the patrol car, the affidavit said Edwards hit his head into the police car screen so hard he got a nasty cut and had to be taken to the hospital to get it closed up.

The officer driving Edwards said he continued to make threats and even told him he was going to kill him and his family when he got out of jail.

Edwards was charged with assault of an officer and domestic assault. His bond was set at $10,000.
