MORE DETAILS ON THE FIRING OF CROSSVILLE POLICE CHIEF DAVE BEATY

Crossville City Manager Greg Wood dismissed Chief of Police Dave Beaty today.  Beaty had been put under a probationary period from Wood earlier this year due to the high turn-over rate within the Police Department.  City Manager Wood issued a media statement that “Chief Beaty has served the city with honor and pride but it was time for Crossville to move in a new direction”.   Additionally, there has been some question whether or not Chief Beaty , who resides in Fentress County, could serve as Chief of Police for Crossville.   Beaty ran for the office  of Fentress County Sheriff in the recent August election there.  He lost that race to the incumbent Sheriff Mike Reagon.  City Manger Wood intends to name Captain Chris Kendrick as the interim chief of police until a permanent one can be hired.
