A Knox County man who’d been missing for a week was found dead on Tuesday.

The Knox County Sheriff’s Office says an ATV rider found the body of John Preston, 78, around 3:30 p.m. on the side of a trail behind a mobile home park at Park Edge at Foote Mineral Lane in northwest Knox County.

Deputies say it appears Preston’s vehicle got stuck and he walked for about 25 yards, where his body was found. There are no signs of foul play and it appears his body had been there for several days.
