MISSING FALCON ALERT: ENDANGERED BIRD FLIES AWAY FROM WEATHERING YARD

peregrine2The American Eagle Foundation is searching for a falcon that went missing on Saturday. The non-profit organization says the Peregrine Falcon went missing from the foundation’s “weathering yard” in Pigeon Forge near Dollywood around 3 p.m.

The American Eagle Foundation is conducting it’s own search, but is asking for East Tennessean’s help.

The falcon, named Scimitar, is described as a well-trained and gentle educational bird. They say Scimitar is a medium sized falcon, with a grayish-black head, a dark blue-gray back, a small beak, and white and black bars across her chest and wings.

The foundation says the most distinguishing factor will be the leather falconry straps attached to her ankles.

If you believe you have spotted Scimtar, you are asked to call either 865-809-3282 or 865-809-2385, or email[email protected] with the word “URGENT” in the subject line.
