MINOR EARTHQUAKE STRIKES SHELBY COUNTY – ONE OF SEVERAL IN TN IN PAST WEEKS

A small earthquake was recorded in Bedford County on Tuesday night.

The United States Geological Survey recorded a 2.8 magnitude quake approximately 8 miles east of Shelbyville.

On the Richter magnitude scale used to measure earthquakes, a 2.8 would be a minor shake, felt only by a few persons at rest, especially on upper floors of buildings, according to the USGS.

The quake was reported around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday night, but no major damage had been reported in relation to it. FULL STORY HERE
