MASKED BANDIT HOLDS UP SHORT STOP MARKET AFTER CLOSING, GUNMAN STILL ON THE LOOSE

(105.7 News) Two men closing their business for the night were held up by a male subject in Crossville Tuesday. According to the report, the owners of the Short Stop Market on Old Lantana Road were getting into their car to leave after closing up, when they were approached by a male subject dressed in black clothing, gloves, a mask and brandishing a handgun. The man demanded money and threatened to shoot the two men if they didn’t fork over cash. Both men gave the suspect what they had in their wallets, approximately $1170 in cash. The masked bandit fled the scene on foot disappearing behind the same side of the building that he appeared from. A man who had just made a purchase at the store witnessed the incident. He described the suspect as having a deep voice, with no distinguishing accent, being 6 feet tall with an average build. The suspect was also described as wearing a black Carhardt jacket or something similar. A perimeter was established and a K-9 Officer was called in to establish a track for a considerable distance before it was lost. Security cameras in the parking lot were not operable at the time of the robbery but detectives are looking into the possibility of other cameras in the area catching the suspect’s movements before the robbery.
