MAN PLEADS WITH GIRLFRIEND TO FORGIVE HIM…ON TOP OF A CAR…ON THE INTERSTATE….HOLDING A SIGN

3851739_G3851736_GNashville: A man went to great lengths Friday morning to make sure his girlfriend knew he was sorry for a mistake he made.

A caller reported seeing Daniel, who does not want to use his last name, standing on the side of I-24 near the I-440 split around 7:15 a.m.

He was on top of his car holding a giant sign that read, “Lindsey, please forgive me. I’m sorry I lied.”

Daniel explained to News 2 that he lied to his girlfriend about something “stupid” recently and wanted to show her how sorry he was.

He came up with the idea last night and went to Walmart to purchase a giant Sharpie pen and poster board.

The location he chose to make his statement was one Lindsey drives by each morning on the way to work.

Luckily for Daniel, his bold stunt worked.

About 30 minutes after his arrival, Lindsey drove by and saw the sign just as a Metro police officer ushered Daniel off the interstate.

“She was actually on her phone”, Daniel told News 2. “I’m pretty sure she was on the phone saying ‘oh my God’.”

The officer told him he couldn’t stand on the side of the road like that and to try sending her a text instead.

Daniel told News 2 traffic became backed up on I-440 by curious drivers, but he also received quite a bit of support.

“I was a little nervous because all of the traffic coming by and everything”, Daniel said. “But…the crazy crazy things we do for love.”

Passersby honked, waved and gave him “thumbs up” as they passed.

News 2 plans to keep in touch with Daniel to see how things turn out. (WKRN-TV)
