LONGTIME LOCAL RADIO NEWSMAN, ANDY VAUGHN, SUFFERS SUDDEN KIDNEY FAILURE

What a difference a day makes.  Andy Vaughn (Hajny), who has been the voice of local radio news for decades, was living life just fine.  Then the call came.  Andy had some blood work done recently and just two days afterwards was called and told his  kidneys  were functioning at only 14 per cent, he needed to get to Knoxville fast for a consultation with a kidney specialist. Initially, the specialist told Andy he would be put on a two-week ‘renal’ diet and see how his kidneys reacted.  But  in less than two days, his kidneys had dropped to 4 percent.   Andy was immediately admitted to Park West Medical Center in Knoxville and put on dialysis.

After four days in Park West, Andy is back home and on a dialysis schedule three days  a week.

Andy has been working as a local radio newsman since the early 2000’s.  He served as newsman on 102.5FM for years before moving  to 105.7 The Hog in 2008.  He worked  as an on-air personality dating back to the early 80’s for WAEW AM/FM Radio.   Most  who  know Andy personally easily can see his genuine, heart-felt and sincere love for people, life and his community.  CNF talked to Andy recently and he is in good spirits – but realizes he has a rough journey ahead.  There  has been a gofundme account established to help Andy with the tremendous expenses facing him in the coming months.  Click here for the gofundme page.  Even if  you’re not able to donate – prayers are free and he  would appreciate them from  you.
