The celebration will begin at 10 a.m. on the grounds of the Homestead Tower Museum at the junction of Hwy. 127 S and State Rt. 68. The CHTA annual meeting will begin at 1 p.m..

The Homesteads homecoming is a great opportunity for members of the Homesteads’ community, both past and present, to connect with old friends and meet new ones as fellowship is the primary activity of the day.

But the homecoming is not limited to folks from the Homesteads, everyone is invited to come join in the celebration. Both the Homesteads Tower and House Museums will be open for tours and many of their guests will include members of the historic community, providing you with a chance to learn more about the history and ongoing community efforts to preserve the heritage of this unique New Deal community.

There will also be an opportunity for those with Homesteads’ stories to tell the stories on camera. Vicki Vaden will be video-taping the stories under the red tent. No appointments needed. These stories will become part of the CHTA museum‘s Living History Recordings Collection and will be preserved for future generations.

Big Lick Bar-B-Q will have plate lunches available for purchase.

Come enjoy getting to know more about Cumberland Homesteads history from the folks who lived it and who are diligently working to preserve it.
