GOVERNOR CANDIDATE RANDY BOYD TOURS CROSSVILLE

GOP gubernatorial candidate Randy Boyd took a stroll around Crossville this week.   Accompanied by State Representative Cameron Sexton and Crossville Mayor James Mayberry, Boyd visited with local area businesses to get input as to what they would like to see out of Tennessee’s next Governor. In 2013, Boyd served in Governor Bill Haslam’s administration as an unpaid advisor on education, resulting in the creation of the Drive to 55 initiative and the Tennessee Promise program. Recently, Boyd served as the Commissioner of Economic and Community Development.  Before becoming economic development commissioner in January 2015, Boyd ran various businesses. He owns Radio Systems Corp., a company that owns several brands, including the Invisible Fence (which makes a wireless pet fence designed to keep pets constrained to their yards without a physical leash),  Boyd also owns two minor league baseball teams — the Tennessee Smokies, a AA affiliate of the Chicago Cubs, and the Johnson City Cardinals, a rookie league affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals. Boyd will be facing off with other Republican Primary candidates next August including:

Mae Beavers, former State Senator
Diane Black, U.S. Representative
Beth Harwell, Speaker of the Tennessee House of Representatives
Bill Lee, businessman
Kay White, realtor

Thus far, Karl Dean, former Mayor of Nashville and
Craig Fitzhugh, Minority Leader of the Tennessee House of Representatives
are the only two Democrats who have announced as candidates in the Democrat Primary for Governor
