FUNERAL SERVICES SET FOR J. PAUL SMITH, LONG TIME CUMBERLAND CO BUSINESSMAN

Funeral Services for long time businessman J. Paul Smith has been announced.  J. Paul owned and operated J. Paul Smith Construction Company for several decades in Cumberland County. His was one of the most sought after Construction and excavating companies in the state. He is responsible for many golf course developments in Cumberland county.  In 1986 Paul bought and restored the Crossville Raceway on Highway 70 North in Cumberland County. Paul, and his wife Dean, were instrumental in the continuation and growth of Mayland Church of Christ for more than 60 years. Here are the arrangements:

J. Paul Smith, a longtime businessman and owner of J. Paul Smith Construction, died Wednesday, reportedly from injuries sustained in a fall. He was 89. He is survived by wife Dean Smith; daughter Paulette; Rex Tanner, who was like a son; sister Alise McCrary and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Funeral services for Mr. Smith will be held on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at 2 p.m. at Crossville Church of Christ. Visitation will be prior to service from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Burial will follow in Mayland Cemetery. The family requests memorials be made to Freed Hardeman University, Office of Dev.
