School Resource Officers was one topic of the Cumberland County BOE meeting – four more officers to be exact. The Cumberland County Board Of Education wants to transfer $233,000 to the County Commission which will then give the money to the Sheriff’s Department to fund four additional School Resource Officers. But this is proving to be a legal nightmare. Neither the BOE nor the County Commission want to be permanently locked into funding the SRO’s even though all parties agree there is a need for the officers in the schools.
