Neighbors of a Rutherford County mayoral candidate are concerned and disgusted over a handmade political sign which includes a dead possum.

Neighbors said the possum was added to the sign on Saturday.

According to neighbors, the hand-painted sign displays commentary about other political signs just across the property line.

Neighbors said the sign is on the property on the home of Heather Brown, who is running for Rutherford County mayor as an independent candidate.

The possum is apparently to mark the loss of a candidate in the primary election, according to neighbors.
