CUMBERLAND, OTHER SCHOOLS LIKELY TO BE CLOSED AGAIN WEDNESDAY – NO MELTING

It’s likely that Cumberland County Schools will again be closed on Wednesday.  Many of the secondary roads throughout the county are covered in packed down snow – which is ice.  These county roads offer some very dangerous driving conditions.  The temperature will continue to drop this afternoon into the night – hitting near zero by morning so there will be no melting of any road snow and ice.  Other surrounding counties which got about the same snow as Cumberland will likely call off school for Wednesday as well.  We haven’t received any official word from Central Services about school closing yet – but based on reports of very slick county roads – its doubtful there will be school tomorrow. Besides schools, it’s not recommended anyone drive on the secondary county roads and if it can’t be avoided, drive very slow and cautiously.  There are patches of packed snow-ice on every road which could cause you to lose control easily.  This Facebook post picture here shows a car that slid off the road into a pond on Bowman Road.  Other pics show roads in Lake Tansi.
