CUMBERLAND COUNTY SCHOOLS IN SESSION FOR ECLIPSE BUT WILL BE AN EXCUSED ABSENCE DAY

Many area school systems are closing down for next Monday’s historical eclipse.  Cumberland County Schools will be in session and have many activities planned for the students to watch the eclipse.  However, if students want to stay home to watch with family, it will be an excused day for the student according the Director of Schools. If parents want to send their children to school and come watch with them at the school, they are instructed to contact the school.  Excused absence means the absence will not count against the student’s attendance UNLESS the student is going for a perfect attendance record.  In those cases, the student would need to go for half a day and get out around 11am to maintain perfect attendance.   Also, eclipse viewing glasses will be provided by the schools for the students who are there along with their parents if they attend.
