CROSSVILLE RAISES PROPERTY TAXES, UTILITY RATES

Crossville has passed a 2$23 million budget for the 2015-2016 fiscal year.

The budget includes a $600,000 deficit which will likely be washed out with the city’s rainy day fund.

Also during the meeting council members approved a 10 cent property tax increase which brings the rate to 63 cents per $100 of assessed value.  Council members Souza, Kerley and Mayor Mayberry voted for the tax hike – Council members Wyatt and Harris voted against it.

The water and sewer rate also got set during the meeting.

Water rates got increased by 15% from $4.50 per 1,000 gallons to $5.24.

The rate outside the city limits increases to $7.87.

Sewer rates for inside the city will now be $7.18 and for outside the city, $10.76.  Four of the Council members voted for the rate increases, Councilman Wyatt voted against.
