CROSSVILLE POLICE ISSUES ADVISORY ON UPCOMING 127 YARD SALE

This morning the Crossville Police Department posted on their Facebook page a notice concerning the upcoming 127 Yard Sale starting August 1st.  It’s the most traffic-congested time of the year for travelers on highway 127 and even other highways who want to get in on the bargain action.  The biggest concern locally is the ability of emergency vehicles getting to where they need to go in a hurry.  The bargain hunters park on the side of the road and the highways are at a standstill at times in both directions which could cost life-saving minutes. Then there’s the risk of one of the thousands of pedestrians being hit.  Here is the post from CPD:

CROSSVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT:

The 127-yard sale officially begins August 1st and ends on August 4th. We want to remind everyone to drive safely this time of year.

Yard sales will be set up along Hwy 127 and some side streets. Deal hunters will be on foot in areas throughout the city. Please slow down and be on the lookout for pedestrians, who may not be looking for you.

Please consider using alternate routes to travel during the sale. Together we can all stay safe and happy!
