CROSSVILLE: HOUSE GUEST CHARGED WITH BEATING, STRANGLING SMALL FAMILY DOG TO DEATH, ASSAULTING OFFICERS

No doubt this had to be one of toughest calls to make for Crossville Police officers.  911 dispatched officers to an apartment on 88 Savannah Drive off 127 north Monday for a domestic call.  When officers arrived they were met by a man identified as 23-year-old Dylan Case who told them he had viciously killed the family house pet dog, a 10-year-old male mini-pinscher-mix named Tuesday.  Upon further investigation, officers discovered that Case, who was from Florida, was staying at the apartment as a house guest of his girlfriend and her parents.  Case told officers he had been off his medication for some time and when the family would leave for work he would regularly abuse the family dog…punching him in the ribs and face.

Case also said that to keep the dog from biting him in defense, he would put on gloves to protect himself.  But on this day, Case, 6’3″ and 280lbs,  went over the top. He told officers he was beating the dog and then picked up the small pet, grabbed him by the throat and strangled him to death. Officers found the deceased animal on the back porch.

The family stated they had noticed that Tuesday had been acting odd the past week running to hide whenever Case would walk into the room and yelping as if in pain anytime someone picked up the little dog.

Case was arrested and charged with felony aggravated animal cruelty along with assault on law officers after he become combative during the arrest procedure.  Case asked to be taken to the hospital for treatment where he also became violent at the CMC ER and had to be taken  to the Justice Center to be restrained but not before he slugged one of the officers in side of the head.
