CROSSVILLE FUGITIVE CAPTURED IN RENO AFTER FIVE HOUR STAND-OFF

The Reno Police Department SWAT team was called to the Riverboat Hotel on Sierra Street in Reno around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday. Reno police say William Douglas Wynn, 71,  was arrested five hours after the standoff began.

He had apparently barricaded himself inside one of the rooms there. When officers tried to serve an arrest warrant, he refused to come out.

Wynn had checked in under another name and different date of birth, but his identity was later confirmed.

When SWAT was called out, they discovered Wynn had a gun. After the lengthy standoff, Wynn came out of the room and was arrested.

Wynn was a fugitive wanted out of Crossville, Tenn. for vehicular homicide. The Crossville Chronicle reports Wynn was charged in a December 2010 car crash that killed Paul Jensen, 78.

Wynn was scheduled for trial in November 2012, and had reached a tentative plea agreement that would have resulted in an eight-year sentence. Wynn never showed up for court and had been missing ever since.
