Cumberland County High School Cheerleaders are in Orlando today to perform for the National competition of the NHSCC.

United Cheer Association (UCA) holds over 50 regional qualifier events leading up to the National High School Cheerleading championship, making it the most prestigious national championship in the country.  The CCHS cheerleaders received an invitation to perform at the national level by winning the 2017 UCA Tennessee Extreme regional championship and the 2017 TSSAA State Championship in November.

 

The NHSCC is the largest high school cheerleading competition in the United States.  More than 400 teams from 33 states and five countries are expected to compete at the event this year. The weekend competition includes cheer squads from Division I and Division II at the high school and junior high school levels. The cheer competition includes small, medium, large and super categories. The Cumberland County High School varsity cheer squad will be competing in the “medium” Varsity COED Gameday division.

The Gameday championship showcases what traditional cheerleading is all about – leading the crowd. Teams will be evaluated on their ability to lead the crowd, proper game day skill incorporations/performance, motion/dance and overall routine.

The NHSCC is held at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Center in Orlando, Florida.
