The Roane County Sheriff’s Department this afternoon released the identity of a body found near a bridge late Sunday night on Highway 70 in Rockwood. Sheriff Jack Stockton says the body has been identified as Kevin J. Waits of the Daysville community in Cumberland County. Officers say Waits body was discovered near the bridge by two individuals who immediately contacted an off duty deputy they knew in Roane County. The body was partially decomposed when discovered. Roane County authorities are awaiting the results of an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death for Waits.
