ALERT: KRAFT CHEESE SINGLES BEING RECALLED

1409417908000-cheeseKraft Foods Group has announced a recall of 7,691 cases of its popular single-slice American cheese.

The food giant says it is ordering the recall of select varieties of regular Kraft American Singles Pasteurized Prepared Cheese Product after discovering a supplier apparently did not store an ingredient at the correct temperature.

As a result, it says, some of the cheese could have spoiled and cause illness.

The recall applies to Kraft American Singles in the 12-, 16- or 24-ounce size if it has a “best when used by” date of Feb. 20, 2015. In the case of the 12-ounce size, the date could also be Feb. 21. The dates can be found at the bottom of the package.

The cheese was distributed widely across the U.S. after having been produced at a Kraft plant in Springfield, Mo.

Kraft says in a statement that anyone who bought the cheese should not eat it. It should be returned to the store were it was bought for an exchange or full refund.

The package codes of the affected cheese all start with 0 21000 then have the suffixes 60464 7, 61526 1 or 63360 9.
